The term SEO may be new to some people who have just started on website development and promotion techniques. Although it sounds new-fangled, it’s actually not that old. It’s a growing business on the internet and now-a-days most websites, large and small, have become concerned with SEO services.

SEO is the method of increasing your relevance to search engines (Google, Yahoo, Bing, etc). Search engines are one of the three ways people will get to your website, and for many website, the biggest and most important one. When people search for something, search engines determine how relevant a website is to the terms and list the top websites. SEO is the process of increasing your ranking on the search engines.

So the question is how to get started with SEO?

1. First of all nothing can guarantee top search engine ranking. It’s about 50% science, 30% art, and 20% luck. But SEO is not rocket science and not complicated. It is above all hard work.
2. SEO requires you to do market research. You have to do little search on what keywords are suitable for your website and which keywords are popular (searched by millions of internet users). Find the niche you fit into (for this website it’s obviously SEO help, if you have a cooking blog, your niche is cooking). You need to do some research about what keywords are most important in you niche. Google Keyword Search Tool is a good place to start.
3. The most important part of SEO is optimizing a website with important keywords. Without doing this, you’ll likely never appear on the top results for searches in your niche. Once you find out which keywords are most important in your niche, use them on your website. Create unique articles with the keywords combination in them. If you know people are linking to you, have them use some of your keywords.
4. The last point covers the two types of SEO – On-site optimization and Off-site optimization. On-site SEO means working on your website itself, and Off-site involves working with backlinks. We’ll get into both further in future posts.
